Residens: Swedish Assholes

Swedish Asshole is a performance that is dealing with the thematics of power, hierarchies and belonging. The starting point is the cultural identity of swedish speaking finns which we are viewing as a liminal space; caught somewhere between east and west, the Finnish and the Swedish. The Swedish Asshole is a character that simultaneously suffers from a grandieur and inferiority complex. It's also an artistic practice with the motto "art is easy, anything can be art" and vouching for artistic freedom.

The working group consists of dance and performance artist Johanna Karlberg, dance artist Alen Nsambu, actor Antonia Atarah and sound designer and musician Nicolas "Leissi" Rehn. In addition to the artists in residence dramsturge Even Minn, scenographer Mikko Salminen, light designer Kristian Palmu and costume designer Mirjam Yeboah. The original idea, concept and facilitation is by Johanna Karlberg, and the artistic work is made as a collaboration between the artists.
