Moving identeties
Moving Identities is a 3-year residency exchange programme for professional performing artists in Denmark, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Estonia and Norway.
The focus of this new programme is identity: what is the European identity today? Through the programme the consortium of artist development organisations and advisory partners will search for the performing artists across Europe that investigate the notion of identity, and facilitate an exchange that supports their innovation, builds their international networks and explore how performing arts organisations can better support the development and international reach of underrepresented artists and themes.
The aim of the programme is to achieve greater diversity of identity represented in the performing arts sector across Europe by building underrepresented European artists’ and their work’s international networks and visibility through international residencies, and ensuring they have greater opportunities and support in their early stages of creating performances. Each year, a group of artists is selected in each country.
Each new cohort receives 3 residencies across the year, of which 1 is in their country of residence, and 2 are international residencies within the consortium. It will give them the opportunity to develop their creative practice, research projects or productions in residence at some of the leading European organisations focusing on artist development, including mentoring and networking support from the venues and advisory partners, in areas such as internationalisation, sustainable production and touring, audience development and strategy.
The programme encourages the sharing of best practice amongst the partners, ensuring each partner develops and explores the tools to support diverse local and international performing arts artists and themes. At the end of the 3 years, the consortium will host a 3-day symposium in Copenhagen to explore and discuss the theme of identity on stage.
